Job Summary
Controller at Monmouth Cards, reporting to the CEO, owns the entire accounting and finance function across multiple entities in a fast-growing, high-volume retail/e-commerce business. Role includes hands-on leadership of month-end close, inventory accounting and valuation, multi-channel revenue reconciliation (POS, Shopify, live selling, marketplaces, vending), gross margin analysis by store/channel/category, cash management and treasury, AP/AR/payroll, multi-state tax nexus, budgeting/forecasting/ FP&A, and leading NetSuite ERP rollout and Shopify POS integration. Provides investor and strategic support for financing, M&A, and other initiatives. Requires 5–8 years in accounting/finance with experience in inventory-heavy retail or e-commerce, multi-entity consolidation, NetSuite and advanced Excel, and multi-state tax familiarity; CPA preferred. On-site at NJ HQ with benefit package and growth opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- 5–8 years in accounting/finance, including time as a Controller or Assistant Controller (or a strong Accounting Manager ready to step up)
- Inventory-heavy retail or e-commerce experience — COGS, inventory valuation, channel reconciliation
- Multi-entity accounting and consolidation experience
- NetSuite (or a comparable ERP, with the ability to ramp on NetSuite) and advanced Excel
- Multi-state sales tax familiarity and a systems-and-automation mindset
- Comfort as a self-directed owner in a fast-moving, founder-led environment
- Bonus: trading cards/collectibles, NetSuite implementation, Shopify POS, or M&A/diligence experience
