Job Summary
Controller at Momentum Accounting is a senior-level role overseeing end-to-end client engagements, including managing month-end and year-end closes, preparing GAAP-compliant financial statements, performing reconciliations and variance analyses, mentoring staff, and ensuring timely delivery across multiple client entities. The role emphasizes proactive communication with clients, leadership in staff development, and the use of cloud-based accounting platforms (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero). Responsibilities include overseeing staff work, coordinating with tax preparers, maintaining audit-ready documentation, and contributing to process improvement and SOP development while delivering actionable financial insights to clients.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a Controller or Senior Accountant capacity
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Proficiency in cloud-based accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Xero, or similar)
- Multi-client management: demonstrated ability to manage multiple clients or projects simultaneously under firm deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication: able to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial audiences
- Nice to Have: CPA license or active pursuit of CPA licensure
- Experience in a public accounting or CAS firm environment
- Familiarity with project management tools and automated reporting workflows
