Job Summary
Controller responsible for owning the financial infrastructure across a multi-state cannabis services organization. Oversees month-end close and consolidation for a complex multi-entity portfolio, treasury and cash management, AP/AR and revenue operations (including offshore processing), internal controls and audit readiness, and financial reporting to lenders. Directly manages staff accountants (Minnesota and Washington-based) and an offshore processing team. Builds and leads the accounting function, designs processes and SOPs, ensures GAAP compliance, and supports growth from mid-market to enterprise-scale. Requires extensive multi-entity experience, strong GAAP knowledge (ASC 842, revenue recognition), experience with enterprise accounting platforms (QuickBooks Online, Intacct/NetSuite/Xero), and leadership of finance teams. CPA strongly preferred or demonstrated equivalent depth of experience; bachelor’s degree required. Role is highly analytical, process-driven, and focused on scalability, accuracy, and timely financial reporting in a regulated industry.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with multi-entity or multi-state operations
- Experience managing full monthly close cycle across multiple entities with consolidation and intercompany eliminations
- Hands-on treasury and cash management experience
- Strong GAAP knowledge including ASC 842 lease accounting, revenue recognition, and multi-entity consolidation
- Proficiency with accounting platforms (QuickBooks Online at enterprise level or Intacct/NetSuite/Xero)
- Experience managing and developing accounting staff
- CPA license strongly preferred or demonstrated equivalent depth of GAAP expertise
- Experience in highly regulated industries (cannabis preferred)
