Job Summary
Controller to lead accounting operations for a large real estate portfolio based in Long Beach, overseeing financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, treasury functions, and the integrity of the company’s accounting systems. Key duties include leading month-end and year-end close, overseeing consolidation of GAAP financial statements, supervising Senior and Staff Accountants, maintaining internal controls and accounting policies, leading annual budgeting with variance analysis, managing daily cash operations and intercompany reimbursements, ensuring DSCR covenant compliance, accounting for property acquisitions and dispositions, overseeing property tax schedules and related filings, maintaining the general ledger and Entrata-based systems, and delivering clear financial reporting and insights to senior leadership. Required qualifications emphasize extensive accounting experience, supervisory capability, real estate industry experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, strong GAAP knowledge, advanced Excel, and Entrata proficiency; preferred qualification includes CPA.
Required Qualifications
- Seven to ten years of progressive accounting experience
- At least two years in a supervisory or management role
- Real estate or property management industry experience
- Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control frameworks
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with property management software such as Entrata
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly
