Job Summary
Build a true cost accounting model for products, capturing labor, material, equipment, and facility overhead to inform shop rates and standard costs. Design cost categories for operational, financial, and accounting needs, and own inventory valuation including depreciation rules. Lead the monthly and year-end close process while owning AP and AR, invoicing, collections, and vendor payments. Implement internal financial controls, including bill approval workflows and authorization limits, and manage relationships with outsourced accounting firms, external auditors, and lenders. Create audit-ready processes and investor-ready financial packages to support future institutional financing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7 to 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including direct experience in manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, or a similar production environment
- Demonstrated experience building cost accounting models from scratch, including labor, material, and overhead allocation, and using them to set pricing or internal rates
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition, and cost accounting principles
- Track record of owning full-cycle accounting end to end, including close, AP/AR, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
- Experience implementing internal controls and financial governance in an environment with little to no existing structure
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
Desired Qualifications
- CPA or active pursuit of CPA license
- Experience leading or managing an outsourced accounting/bookkeeping relationship
- Experience in a startup or small-team environment, building finance/accounting functions from scratch
- Excited by the prospect of 2x or 3x headcount growth, with multi-facility or multi-state expansion
