Job Summary
Lead all property accounting operations across a multi-property portfolio, directly manage Regional Accounting Managers and staff accountants, and oversee month-end and year-end close processes. Ensure GAAP, HUD, lender compliance, and accurate, timely financial reporting. Serve as a primary accounting partner to Property Management, Compliance, Asset Management, and third-party clients, driving best practices and scalable processes. Partner with Corporate Accounting to align policies, procedures, and reporting standards; lead property-level audits; monitor payables, receivables, reimbursements, and cash controls; support budgeting/forecasting and financial analysis; drive continuous improvement through process optimization and technology enhancements including Yardi; develop and retain accounting talent and foster a culture of accountability and collaboration. This is a remote role with candidates based anywhere in the United States.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 10+ years of accounting experience, including 3–5 years in a leadership role
- Strong expertise in property accounting, GAAP, HUD compliance, and lender requirements
- Proven experience managing audits, intercompany transactions, and large accounting teams
- Hands-on experience with property management accounting systems, with Yardi strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes, implement controls, and scale operations effectively
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, multi-property environment with competing priorities
