Job Summary

Direct day-to-day accounting and financial operations for both the Private Golf Club and the Homeowners Association, ensuring absolute data precision and seamless monthly closing cycles. Prepare comprehensive financial statements, conduct thorough bank and subsidiary ledger reconciliations, and manage member billing procedures. Oversee bi-monthly payroll administration via Paycom, maintain strict fund accounting separation under the Davis-Stirling Act, and serve as the primary liaison for external audits. Collaborate with department heads to monitor budget variances, verify inventory, and select, train, and evaluate the accounting team. Requires a Bachelor's degree, 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, and a CPA or CHAE designation. Full-time, exempt role reporting to the Director of Finance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • 5 to 7 years of progressive professional accounting experience
  • At least 2 years in a senior accounting role or Controller capacity within a private club, resort, or luxury hospitality operation
  • Demonstrated success supervising, mentoring, and developing a lean accounting team
  • Advanced proficiency in club-specific accounting systems (ClubEssentials)
  • Advanced proficiency in automated payroll/HR platforms (Paycom)
  • Deep understanding of US GAAP
  • Deep understanding of internal control frameworks (ICFR)
  • Deep understanding of payroll taxation
  • Deep understanding of statutory HOA reserve funding requirements
  • Advanced capability in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong aptitude for budget variance analysis
  • Strong aptitude for operational metrics
  • Strong aptitude for preparing precise transactional data projections
  • Strong communication skills
  • Approachable, service-oriented mindset

Desired Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing fund accounting and financial operations for a Homeowners Association (HOA) governed under the California Davis-Stirling Act
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Certified Hospitality Accounting Executive (CHAE) designation
  • Highly desirable technical stack in club-specific accounting systems (ClubEssentials)
