Job Summary
The Controller will be responsible for organizing and directing accounting personnel, ensuring the integrity of financial data and controls, and overseeing the monthly close process with financial analysis. The role requires verification and analysis of property general ledgers, managing and mentoring department personnel, and providing guidance on complex accounting issues. Candidates should have significant experience with Real Estate accounting, a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred), and 8-10 years of relevant experience, including leadership roles.
Required Qualifications
- Significant accounting experience with Real Estate operating companies
- Property Management Accounting experience required
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP accounting, internal controls over financial reporting
- 8-10 years of relevant experience with increasing responsibilities and recent leadership roles
- Multifamily & Commercial Community real estate experience preferred
- Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced team-oriented environment.
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s Degree preferred
- CPA preferred
- Experience managing teams with sound judgement and strong leadership capabilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Extensive experience with RealPage/OneSite, Yardi, Entrata, AppFolio and other real estate property management applications.
