Job Summary
Senior Controller-level accounting leadership for mid-sized commercial construction firms in the San Francisco Bay Area. Oversees job cost accounting, WIP, and revenue recognition; leads project accounting, AP, payroll, and month-end close; partners with ownership and operations on forecasting, backlog analysis, and risk management; reviews contracts, change orders, billing, and cash flow; builds and develops accounting teams and internal controls; coordinates with external CPAs, auditors, banks, bonding agents, and advisors. Requires direct construction industry accounting leadership experience (7+ years) and familiarity with Viewpoint Vista/Spectrum/Sage 300 CRE (Timberline) or CMiC; strong Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas; reporting automation a plus); payroll experience including union or prevailing wage environments preferred. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area with on-site or hybrid work arrangement; U.S. work authorization required.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive construction accounting experience
- Prior Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior construction accounting leadership role
- Deep understanding of project-based accounting within commercial construction environments
