Job Summary
Controller responsible for directing Children’s Place Association’s nonprofit accounting operations, government/grant compliance, and financial reporting. Oversees month-end close, staff supervision, and collaborates with Grants & Contract Manager to ensure billing, receivable management, revenue recognition, and funder compliance. Supports CFO and executive team with timely financial insights; requires leading GAAP/nonprofit accounting practices, external audits, and internal control environment. Strong emphasis on grant/contracts, budgeting, procurement, time & effort, and financial analyses for program leadership and development. Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel is expected, with CPA/MBA preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 7 years of progressive nonprofit accounting experience
- Experience managing government grants (federal, state, DCFS, DHS)
- Prior supervisory experience
- Experience with Uniform Guidance, GAAP, fund accounting, and restricted fund management
