Control & Test Engineer
On-site · Zürich, Zurich, Switzerland
Job Summary
Join CDDS as a Drone Test Engineer to help bring next-generation control, guidance, and state-estimation algorithms into high-speed kinetic interceptor drones. You will take full responsibility for field tests and customer demonstrations, own the development on the low-level control stack, and tune and optimize the current software stack to extract its full potential. Responsibilities include writing high-quality code under tight CPU/memory constraints, extending and customizing the PX4 flight stack, building and tuning the low-level flight controller, organizing and leading field tests, and handling the technical aspects of customer demonstrations. The role requires traveling to test locations abroad, enthusiasm for rapid prototyping, and a strong background in robotics/engineering with hands-on flight testing. Required qualifications emphasize an MSc in a relevant engineering field, strong C++ skills, experience with PX4/Betaflight/iNAV, strong analytical and debugging abilities, and willingness to travel. Nice-to-have skills include flight experience with UAVs, ROS2, MPC/RL, trajectory optimization, computer vision and optical sensors, and familiarity with simulation environments; a driver license is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- MSc in Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or similar
- Strong C++ programming skills
- Experience with PX4, Betaflight, iNAV or a similar flight stack
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex systems
- Open to travel often
