Job Summary
Mon Power seeks a Protection and Controls Technician responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of protection systems, control systems, and communications equipment. Technicians ensure compliance with FERC, NERC, PJM, and RFC requirements and collaborate with internal teams to maintain system reliability. Positions vary from Class C with basic responsibilities to Class A requiring advanced competency in handling complex operational tasks. Candidates should have relevant electrical engineering education, pass competency testing, and possess the ability to perform troubleshooting safely and effectively.
Required Qualifications
- Electrical Engineering, Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent combinations of education, technical training, and relevant field experience
- Successful completion of the EEI Technician Occupations Selection System (TECH) test
- Demonstrated ability to safely perform electrical troubleshooting tasks
- Ability to learn and apply troubleshooting techniques and communicate findings clearly
- Ability to read and interpret control prints, wiring diagrams, and relay schematics
- Ability to conduct basic research, prepare reports, and compile technical data
- Ability to follow established procedures, guidelines, and technical standards.
Desired Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience as a Class B‐equivalent Controls Technician
- Demonstrated understanding of technical and business processes
- Intermediate‐level troubleshooting proficiency
- Ability to perform moderately complex assignments with limited supervision
- Proven ownership of complex operational issues from identification through resolution
- Demonstrated leadership and mentorship capability
- Advanced troubleshooting and analytical skills
Additional Requirements
- Must reside within 40 minutes of the Virginia Avenue Service Center in Fairmont, WV.
