Job Summary
Design control and automation systems for Royal IHC products in the offshore energy sector by writing specifications, developing PLC code, and creating HMI/SCADA solutions. Provide technical support during project construction, including commissioning and testing of equipment, while managing workload prioritization to ensure timely delivery within budget. Maintain high software quality standards and take ownership of tasks from design through coding to installation and documentation across marine, subsea, and renewables markets. Work across the Royal IHC office, production facility, and client sites globally, applying ISO9001 procedures and functional safety knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent technical knowledge of Control, Automation and Safety Systems
- Appropriate Computer/Engineering related qualification (degree/HND) or comparable industrial experience
- Relevant experience in: Design of control & automation systems
- Programming of PLC, HMI & SCADA systems
- Commissioning & Testing of industrial control systems
- Involvement throughout the whole project lifecycle, from design through coding to testing, installation and documentation
- Working for clients in the marine, subsea, oil & gas and renewables market
- Recent experience of a similar role in a bespoke engineering environment
- Experience of working to ISO9001 or equivalent in a project based organisation
- A high level of competence with IT systems and tools
- Role requires a mixture of working from Royal IHC Ltd Grey Street office, Port of Blyth production facility and other client sites / vessels around the world
Desired Qualifications
- Experience of Siemens TIA Portal / Unified (preferred)
- Experience of Rockwell or Mitsubishi platforms
- Experience of configuring & commissioning Variable Speed Drives (Siemens, Nidec & ABB)
- Previous experience within the Marine / Offshore / Subsea environment
- Knowledge & experience of relevant functional safety standards (IEC61508, IEC61511, IEC13849)
