Job Summary
Architect and develop closed-loop control systems and algorithms incorporating motors, sensors, structures, and drive electronics. Present technical content to customers and internal stakeholders while correlating model simulations with real-world test results. Troubleshoot and resolve system-level performance issues during development, integration, and testing phases. Generate comprehensive technical documentation including design reviews, test plans, and reports. This role supports the development, design, test, and manufacturing of Honeybee Robotics' Motion Control products for NASA, defense, and commercial programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited technical college or university
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- In-depth understanding of motors, gearing, feedback & commutation sensors, and motion control methodologies
- Demonstrated experience building and validating dynamic models and simulations of motion control systems in MATLAB/Simulink
- Experience with control system design techniques (e.g., PID tuning, state-space control, frequency-domain analysis)
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential
- Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical

Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Control Systems or Mechatronics Engineering
- Experience designing motion control and electromechanical systems for space environments
- Experience modeling motor dynamics, bearings, and other system parameters to correlate model simulations with test data
- Familiarity with embedded control implementation (e.g., C/C++, real-time operating systems)
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test setups
