Job Summary
Control Room Operator will lead the safe and efficient operation of Empire Windfarm from the Central Control Room in Brooklyn, NY, dispatching the plant to the electric grid, monitoring SCADA/HMI/CCTV across onshore/offshore substations and wind turbines, managing alarms, logs, and permits (LOTO), and reporting to the US Control Center Manager. The role requires independent problem-solving with short-term operational impact, effective cross-team and external-stakeholder communication (including NYISO, NYPD, FDNY, USCG), and adherence to safety, ethics, and compliance. The position may temporarily stand in for the Control Room Manager. 5+ years CRO or similar experience, utility/power generation background, and high voltage experience are highly preferred. The salary range is $39-$86 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years as a Control Room Operator (CRO) or in a similar role
- existing utility/power generation experience
- high voltage experience desirable
- ability to make decisions in stressful situations
- collaborative mindset with ability to take responsibility when appropriate
- strong communication with internal teams and external stakeholders
- training and compliance knowledge including safety protocols
- LOTO and permit issuing experience
- experience with monitoring and dispatch of plant to electric grid
- familiarity with SCADA/HMI/CCTV systems
