Job Summary
Two-person-control-room operator role at a 250 MW combined-cycle power plant, reporting to the Operations and Maintenance Manager. Responsibilities include safe and efficient operation of plant equipment from the Control Room and outdoor areas, monitoring parameters (temperature, pressure, levels, vibration, hours, water chemistry), issuing permits (Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Hot Work), utilizing Maximo to enter service requests and document Preventative Maintenance, communicating plant conditions to management, assisting in developing procedures, operating heavy equipment when required, training junior operators, and performing Root Cause Analysis as needed. Requires strong teamwork, safety compliance, and hands-on experience with turbine and balance-of-plant equipment; rotating 12-hour shifts and potential overtime.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Technical training related to the role preferred
- Experience as an Operator in a power plant desired
- Experience as a Control Room Operator for Combined Cycle Plants highly desirable
- Water chemistry control and analysis experience preferred
- Knowledge of combustion/steam turbine operations and safety
- Experience with piping and instrument diagrams and process control desirable
- Experience with General Electric units desirable
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work in a safety-sensitive, rotating-shift environment
- Capability to operate heavy equipment such as a man-lift and forklift
- Willingness to perform Root Cause Analysis and participate in safety programs
- Overtime availability and ability to work outside in a power plant environment
