Job Summary
Controls Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems (logic software and hardware) to meet process requirements. Creates schematics detailing control configurations and wiring; designs equipment panel layouts in AutoCAD; prepares Sequence of Operation documents for control strategies; leads design reviews with customers; performs on-site system checkout and start-up; develops final system documentation and provides customer training. Works on automation and control system integration projects across multiple industries, including manufacturing production lines and building automation for data centers. Acts as technical lead and mentors lower-level engineers and technicians; may serve as Project Manager on smaller projects (budgets from $50K-$250K), including developing implementation plans, assigning work, managing timelines, coordinating with customers, preparing schedules, tracking progress, and handling purchasing and subcontractor requirements; involved in cost development and change-order proposals. Minimum requirements include a BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (preferred) and 3+ years of related experience, familiarity with PLCs and instrumentation, AutoCAD, and strong communication skills; ability to travel up to 50%. A broad salary range is noted as a guideline; company will consider experience and qualifications when extending offers.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
- 3+ years experience in control systems, components, logic programming, instrumentation and controls design, PLC systems (Allen Bradley, Schneider Modicon, Siemens, GE-IP)
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel up to 50%
