Job Summary
Control Engineer performs programming, installation and maintenance of production equipment with expertise in Siemens PLCs; responsibilities include evaluating equipment updates, troubleshooting programming failures, setting up new PLC programs and robot interfacing, implementing improvements to cycle times in robotic welding/assemblies, and training personnel in robots and PLCs. The role emphasizes safety, adherence to Magna’s operating principles, collaboration with vendors/contractors, and supporting quality/environmental policies. Requires a two- to four-year degree in mechanical engineering or related field and PLC/robot programming experience; strong electrical knowledge, communication skills, and ability to read technical documents. The position is a full-time role based in Montezuma, IA, with no remote work indicated.
Required Qualifications
- Two or four year degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- Proven knowledge of PLCs and programming with the ability to program/teach robots
- Solid knowledge of metal stamping, spot welding and assembly processes
- Electrical knowledge (National Electrical Code) and control wiring
- Ability to read/interpret reports, instructions, technical procedures, blueprints and diagrams
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a team and adapt to a manufacturing environment
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts as appropriate
- In-person presence in Montezuma, IA-United States
