Job Summary
Control Centre Guard role providing security for a secure facility with responsibilities including monitoring CCTV, controlling entry/exit with identity verification, coordinating with the Shift Supervisor on emergencies and patrols, assigning room/bed/log numbers for intakes, operating communication systems to coordinate contractor resources, responding to alarms, handling intake/release of individuals, distributing messages, intercepting contraband, and maintaining accurate logs. Requires valid BC Security Guard License, high school diploma or equivalent, and ability to pass required security clearances; previous security/dispatch experience and proficiency with CCTV and access control systems are assets. Training and career growth opportunities are available with GardaWorld Academy; uniform provided. Schedule is full-time with rotating shifts (6:00am-6:00pm and 6:00pm-6:00am, Wednesday-Saturday).
Required Qualifications
- Valid BC Security Guard License
- First Aid Level 1 (OFA1) – asset
- Advanced Security Training (AST) – asset
- Must have resided in Canada for the past 5 years
- High school diploma or equivalent (proof of education required)
- Able to pass Public Works Clearance and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in security, dispatch, monitoring, or a related operational environment preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient in the use of computer systems, CCTV monitoring platforms, access control systems, and radio communications equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately complete logs, reports, and documentation.
- Strong observation skills with the ability to identify and assess potential security risks quickly and accurately.
