Contracts Manager, Government & Commercial Operations

Job Summary
Lead day-to-day contract administration across the contract lifecycle for government and commercial contracts in an aerospace manufacturing environment, including intake, drafting, review, negotiation support, execution, amendment tracking, and closeout; manage subcontracts and non-customer agreements; ensure FAR/DFARS compliance and handling of cost-reimbursable/cost-plus contracting; develop contract playbooks, workflows, and metadata governance; lead governance of contract lifecycle management tools (including AI-enabled CLM); train stakeholders on key clauses and compliance; serve as the primary Michigan-based point of contact for contract questions; coordinate with finance, program management, supply chain, and legal; support export-control processes (ECCN/USML, ITAR) and SAM.gov; drive process improvements and standardization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Contracts, Legal Studies, Supply Chain, or a related field required.
- Advanced degree or Juris Doctor preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in contract management, including aerospace/defense/manufacturing or regulated environments.
- Experience with FAR, DFARS, and government-informed contract terms.
- Experience with subcontracts and non-customer agreements.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and contract interpretation skills.
- Experience with CLM systems and AI-enabled contract tools preferred.
- Export compliance familiarity (ECCN/USML, ITAR) preferred.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
