Job Summary
Contracts Attorney to join Flagship Pioneering's in-house legal team. Responsible for drafting, negotiating, and managing a high volume and variety of contracts across Flagship's portfolio companies, including Master Service Agreements, work orders, Consulting Agreements, CDAs, and research collaboration agreements. Will conduct initial reviews, prepare redline drafts for senior attorney review, support contract-process training, format documents for execution (including e-signature), coordinate with Finance/Procurement to improve processes, advise stakeholders on contractual rights and obligations, and help resolve contract-closure issues. Emphasis on exposure to commercial and research-related agreements, strong organizational skills, and the ability to proactively build knowledge and relationships across the Flagship ecosystem. The role is based in Cambridge with hybrid flexibility.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Admitted to the bar in at least one U.S. state and in good standing at the time of hire and throughout the duration of employment
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously with guidance and direction from senior attorneys; demonstrated capacity to prioritize competing demands and maintain accuracy under tight timelines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent stakeholder engagement ability
- High level of responsiveness and exceptional interpersonal skills; strong customer service orientation with the ability to actively manage stakeholder expectations across Flagship portfolio companies
- Demonstrated willingness and enthusiasm to learn, evaluate, and apply state-of-the-art AI legal tools to improve the quality, speed, and efficiency of day-to-day legal work
- Highly self-motivated and driven
