Job Summary
Conduct Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) subject matter expert training for the FBI Development and Preparedness Unit, delivering lectures, case studies, demonstrations, and tabletop exercises on chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive threats. Teach improvised explosives, clandestine laboratory detection, and hazardous material investigations using hands-on laboratory exercises and scenario-based simulations. Assist in setting up WMD mock laboratory exercises, briefing on emerging CBRNE trends, and developing or updating training curriculum. Provide expertise in chemical trace analysis, biosecurity lab principles, and field screening procedures while collaborating with federal, state, local, and international partners. This remote position requires frequent domestic and occasional international travel, with core hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and demands US citizenship and completion of an FBI background investigation.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship
- Completion of a course of study resulting in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in a relevant discipline
- Current or former certified Bomb Technician, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Badge holder/technician, or licensed commercial blaster
- Demonstrated experience in chemical trace analysis and advanced analytical method development and techniques for scientific experiments
- Experience in curriculum development, implementation, and training on the EPC/TIC threat and hazardous material investigations
- Expert in IE with an emphasis on synthesis and detection of relevant materials
- Expert on the topic of clandestine laboratories and post blast demonstrations
- Travel is expected and may include frequent CONUS and occasional OCONUS travel in support of FBI training events

- Candidates located in the Eastern or Central time zones are preferred to facilitate coordination with the FBI Development and Preparedness Unit
