Contractor - Radiological Engineer

Job Summary

Conduct radiological and nuclear analyses for pressurized light-water reactor licensing and defense using industry-standard simulation tools like MCNP and SCALE. Develop resolutions to complex problems requiring creativity, while planning, organizing, and executing innovative engineering assignments with little to no supervision. Exercise judgment to resolve complex issues within broadly defined policies and interact with management and senior customer personnel to coordinate across organizational lines. Represent the organization as the principal customer contact and present technical project information, gaining cooperation from others. Mentor and train junior engineers while adhering to NuScale safety culture and quality assurance regulations. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a B.S. degree in nuclear engineering or radiological health physics from a four year ABET accredited college of university
  • A minimum 8 years of full-time directly applicable experience in nuclear/radiological engineering or health physics
  • 2-3 years' of additional or concurrent experience in PWR or BWR license development and defense
  • Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810
  • Ability to understand and communicate clearly using a phone, personal interaction, and computers
  • Ability to learn new job functions and comprehend and understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately in a rapidly evolving environment
  • Ability to travel nationally and locally using common forms of transportation
