Job Summary
Conduct generative and evaluative research through interviews, usability tests, surveys, and diary studies with parents and kids. Perform market and competitive research to frame opportunities, then synthesize qualitative and quantitative signals into insights, personas, journey maps, and design recommendations. Execute UX design by creating information architecture, user flows, and low-to-mid-fidelity wireframes, followed by high-fidelity visual design within the established design system ready for engineering handoff. Deliverables include age-appropriate methods, safeguarding considerations, and structured outputs for children, teens, and families. This six-month renewable contract requires 10-20 hours weekly at $60-$90 per hour. Partner with UI artists and game designers to impact kids' and family's lives.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience across UX research, interaction design, and visual design
- Portfolio or work samples
- Experience designing and researching UX appropriate for children, teens, and families
- Age-appropriate methods
- Assent/consent
- Safeguarding
- Fluency with standard research methods
- Knowing when to use which research method
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to translate ambiguity into structured deliverables
- Ability to execute visual design within an established design system
- Producing polished, on-brand screens
- Proficiency in Figma
- Working with components
- Working with design systems
- Creating flows
- Creating wireframes
- Creating higher-fidelity screens
- Comfortable working in a remote, cross-functional team
- 5+ years experience
Desired Qualifications
- Background in digital health, healthcare, or behavioral health
- Experience designing for both B2C and clinician/caregiver audiences
