Job Summary
Contract Lighting Artist to craft atmospheric, horror-infused lighting across Unreal Engine 5-driven game environments. Design and implement optimized lighting with GPU Lightmass, collaborate with environment, VFX, and art direction teams to ensure mood aligns with each chapter, develop and maintain lighting standards, and optimize setups for real-time performance. Mentor junior/mid-level lighting artists, prototype new looks with art direction, contribute to post-process elements (bloom, lens flares, color grading), participate in art reviews, and work in a remote-first US-based context with an indie-studio ethos.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of games industry experience with at least one shipped title
- Must have Unreal Engine 5 lighting and GPU Lightmass pipeline
- Strong understanding of real-world lighting, photography, and cinematography principles
- Proven ability to create horror, suspense, or atmospheric lighting styles
- Experience optimizing lighting for real-time performance on PC and console
- Solid communication and collaboration skills in a remote-first environment
