Job Summary
Interpret contract documents and administer construction contracts for municipal water and wastewater projects. Review progress, prepare payment certificates, and certify payments while managing contract change requests, claims, and disputes. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to evaluate RFIs, resolve field issues, and lead construction progress meetings. Monitor construction progress and contract compliance, identifying project risks and recommending practical solutions. Foster strong relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies across the Greater Toronto Area. Requires a MTO Class 'G' driver's license, strong communication skills, and experience with construction management software.
Required Qualifications
- Contract administration experience in construction/reconstruction of water and/or wastewater infrastructure including water and wastewater treatment, water supply, storage and distribution and wastewater collection
- Strong understanding of construction contract administration, including contract interpretation, change management, claims, scheduling and dispute resolution
- MTO Class 'G' driver's license in good standing and access to a personnel vehicle
- Effective communicator possessing demonstrated skills in dealing with other staff, contractors, and the public, with matters arising from construction projects
- Familiarity with current traffic control regulations
- Familiarity with relevant environmental regulations, municipal approvals and local by-laws
- Possess working knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act and its Regulations, and Ontario Provincial Standards and Specifications (OPSS) for Municipal projects
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Project)
Desired Qualifications
- Licensed member of the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or Certified Civil Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.)
- Experience with MS Project, Bluebeam, Procore or other construction management software
- Positive attitude with good leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in project planning, risk management, cost management, schedule management and preparation/administration of contract documents and specifications
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team
