Job Summary
Draft, vet, and negotiate editorial acquisition contracts for trade imprints, including audio rights amendments and secondary documentation like reversions and terminations. Process royalty queries, manage author estate payments, and handle reversion documentation through proprietary databases. Collaborate with global editorial teams, legal staff, and internal partners to streamline processes and resolve contractual issues. Act as the primary contact for reversion-related inquiries and sales after reversion matters. This 6-month contract in Toronto requires a background in publishing law and strong negotiation skills to support Harlequin's global editorial team and author community.
Required Qualifications
- B.A. or equivalent
- minimum of 2 year professional-level experience
- Experience working drafting and negotiating contracts
- A good understanding of legal principles and terminology, ideally within publishing
- Proficient in word processing skills and the use of proprietary applications, databases and IT systems
