Job Summary

Continuous Improvement Engineer II at Materion in Elmore, OH, leading and coaching cross-functional teams to drive process control, yield and cycle-time improvements using Lean Six Sigma and DMAIC methodologies. Responsibilities include partnering with Process Engineering, Operations, and Quality to identify and financially vet improvement projects; leading projects through Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control phases; removing barriers to improve process capability and margins; developing standard operating procedures; producing training and development content; and collaborating with R&D, Product Management, and Commercial teams to maximize business impact. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, 3–5 years of manufacturing process engineering experience or Lean Six Sigma/DMAIC training, strong leadership, communication skills, and a history of accountability. Familiarity with EH&S and quality program compliance, data interpretation, and export-control considerations (ITAR/EAR) is also noted. The position is based in Elmore, Ohio, with in-person site responsibilities. The salary range is provided as a guideline and may vary by experience and location.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree in engineering or equivalent (Materials, Metallurgical, Mechanical, Chemical, or related discipline); advanced degree is a plus
  • 3-5 years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing setting or training in Lean Six Sigma or DMAIC problem solving methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead technical teams
  • Ability to manage multiple complex assignments / projects
  • Strong written and presentation skills
  • Willingness and eagerness to learn, receive, and provide coaching
  • Demonstrated history of operating with sense of urgency and accountability
  • Proven record of working with strategic business teams to support top and / or bottom-line growth is preferred
  • Export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology (ITAR/EAR) or alternative approved status as required by export controls
  • US citizenship, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, asylee/refugee status, or other export-license eligibility as governed by ITAR/EAR requirements
