Dental Hygienist provides preventative dental care in collaboration with the dentist, including prophylaxis and/or scaling and root planing, periodontal probing, fluoride treatment, sealants, radiographs, and oral hygiene education. The role administers local dental anesthetic if certified, documents encounters in an electronic health record, sterilizes instruments, maintains operatory cleanliness, and follows scheduling templates. Participates in quality metrics and quality improvement initiatives, supports dental operations, assists chair side when staffing demands require, engages in outreach and dental education programs, assists Practice Manager with stocking and monitoring hygiene supplies, and stays current with internal communications and practice meetings.
