Job Summary
Content Specialist is a site-based role providing instructional coaching and program-quality support to ensure alignment with DYCD, NY Edge, and site expectations. Responsibilities include coaching staff, observing activities, reviewing lesson plans, delivering professional development, facilitating recruitment and onboarding of instructional staff, and monitoring program quality across up to three COMPASS sites within a regional portfolio. The role involves conducting formal and informal observations, providing feedback, modeling effective instructional practices, supporting staff in delivering engaging and inclusive, youth-centered learning experiences, and maintaining coaching records and required reports. Requires collaboration with the Afterschool Program Director and Curriculum Instructional Technology team, with ongoing training and multi-site coordination, and a minimum commitment of nine service hours per week at each assigned site. Expertise in instructional coaching, curricula implementation, and ability to work within NYE and DYCD-aligned frameworks is essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, a relevant content area, Youth Development, or a related field
- Minimum of three years of experience teaching, facilitating, or supporting K-8 students in educational, afterschool, or youth development settings
- Demonstrated ability to provide constructive, strengths-based coaching and feedback
- Knowledge of culturally responsive instructional practices and youth-centered facilitation
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
