Content Specialist (Harlem Center - Elementary Program)

Job Summary

Foster social and emotional competencies and mental well-being by learning PAL curricula to ensure lesson plans meet funder requirements. Provide professional development to frontline staff on classroom management, behavior management, and activity implementation during orientations, weekly meetings, and midseason trainings. Observe and evaluate program implementation to offer feedback and coaching, while ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, SACC regulations, and contractual obligations. Coordinate with site principals and headquarters staff to grow creative programming opportunities, collect program data for analysis, and support Group Leaders in implementing support plans for students with IEPs. Mediate issues and troubleshoot challenges within the center. This role supports the leadership team to elevate out-of-school programming for elementary through high school youth across the City.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Child Development, Education, Youth Development or a related field
  • A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated successful experience in curriculum development and/or implementation, observation, training, and coaching, classroom teaching, and supervision
  • Microsoft office skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel to any PAL location in the 5 Boroughs (for Professional Development days)
  • Available for training opportunities outside of program hours
  • This position is for 9 hours a week (3 days a week, 3 hours each day) between the hours of 3:00-6:00
  • Employment with PAL is contingent upon successful completion of all the Agency's lawful pre-employment checks, which may include a background check

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Familiarity with SACC regulations and DYCD funding requirements
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish, French, or Chinese
