Job Summary
Produce and distribute live and recorded streaming content for Nexstar's 116 local stations and digital platforms, including NewsNation and TheHill.com. Maintain daily event schedules, route live feeds, and ingest video while writing and editing scripts for broadcast, digital, and CTV channels. Coordinate interviews with lawmakers and analysts, develop story pitches, and field produce special coverage including live shots. Ensure all content meets journalistic integrity standards and distribute material across websites, apps, and social media. This role requires daily in-office work one block from the U.S. Capitol, with flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must have a Bachelor's in Broadcast Journalism, 2–5 years of political news experience, and proficiency with non-linear editing systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 2–5 years of experience in political, government, or broadcast/digital news
- Prior experience in news producing
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple assignments
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Flexibility to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Must be able to lift and operate equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with live streaming and CTV production
- Proficiency with non-linear editing systems and digital news gathering tools (e.g., OBS, vMix, CMS platforms)
- Knowledge of Capitol Hill, federal agencies, and political processes
- Experience covering Washington, DC or a state capitol
