Job Summary
Draft answers, motions to dismiss, and motions for summary judgment; conduct legal research and prepare memoranda. Manage discovery, including written discovery and document review, and take or defend depositions periodically. Participate in settlement negotiations and mediations while preparing cases for dispositive motions. Communicate with clients regarding case status and strategy, and analyze consumer protection claims under federal and state law. Submit a cover letter, resume, and writing sample for consideration. This role supports the Chicago office's litigation team on hourly basis, with flexible hours and potential remote work.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active license and good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Licensed and admitted to practice in Illinois
- 3-7 years of experience
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred minimum of 3 years of litigation experience
- Experience with FCRA, FDCPA, consumer fraud, or related consumer protection matters preferred
- Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
- Federal court litigation experience is a plus
