Job Summary
Examine, evaluate, and authorize approval of borrower applications for credit, extension of lines of credit, or consumer loans using authorized authority. Analyze applicant financial status, credit, and collateral to determine feasibility of approving, denying, or countering loans, then forward results to loan interviewers. Resolve questions regarding application information by conversing with interviewers to assist in granting credit to members. Interpret loan policy, procedural manuals, and compliance regulations while exercising good judgment to solve problems involving concrete variables. Communicate professionally with members and staff, ensuring adherence to credit union policies and an ethical work environment. Travel occasionally for credit union functions.
Required Qualifications
- General and business knowledge equivalent to a high school diploma
- 2-3 years of underwriting experience
- Credit union operations experience
- loan experience
- Must be a decision maker

- Must have a professional approach to assessing the needs of the members
- Must be able to communicate professionally with members and staff
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables
- Ability to interpret and understand loan policy, procedural manuals, and compliance with appropriate regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally, in writing and electronic channels
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to receive information and hear sounds at normal speaking levels under normal conditions in an office setting
- Visually able to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading
- Sufficient manual skill for operation of PC keyboard and other standard office equipment
- Ability to exert minimum amounts of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects
- Ability to travel occasionally for credit union functions

- Familiar with PC's and applicable software including Outlook, Teams, Excel
