Job Summary
PRN Consumer Access Specialist at AdventHealth Prairie Star in Lenexa, KS. Responsibilities include Medicare compliance reviews, creating accurate estimates of patient financial responsibility, collecting payments or setting up payment plans, coordinating with utilization management for pre-authorizations, verifying insurance eligibility and benefits, registering patients for services with accurate demographic data, maintaining documentation of payer decisions and communications, providing coverage for PBX and cashiering duties, and ensuring excellent customer service while supporting cross-department collaboration. Must be bilingual (English/Spanish) with knowledge of HIPAA, EMR systems, and hospital revenue-cycle concepts; prior experience in customer service and healthcare environments is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree preferred
- High School Grad or Equiv required
- 1+ customer service experience preferred
- 1+ healthcare experience preferred
- 1+ revenue cycle experience preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
- Knowledge of HIPAA and CMS regulations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EMR systems
- Ability to handle patient scheduling, pre-authorizations, and eligibility verification
- Strong communication and cash handling skills
- Understanding of insurance benefits and deductible explanations
- Attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions
