Job Summary
Environmental Specialist/Forester performing identification, inspection, and evaluation of trees and brush along utility lines; submit inspection results to clients with recommendations; plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of assigned line-clearance crews; discuss and negotiate crew access issues; serve as liaison between clients, crews, and customers; regional overnight travel required; requires a degree in forestry/related field or equivalent experience, and computer/GIS skills; strong communication, multitasking, and time-management abilities; ability to work outdoors in varied terrain and inclement weather; valid driver’s license; travel within region with overnight stays as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 2 or 4 year degree in forestry, horticulture, environmental science or closely related field OR 2 years of experience in Utility Vegetation Management or related field
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to travel within region with overnight stays as needed
- Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with GIS integrated data collection software/hardware preferred but not required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, organized, production oriented
- Ability to manage a geographical area for vegetation activities
- Interpersonal skills with stakeholders, utility customers and line clearance vendors
