Job Summary
Consulting Utility Forester position with Davey Resource Group in South Texas (Brownsville, Harlingen, Corpus Christi). Responsibilities include vegetation management planning and analysis; using innovative technology to assist major electric utilities in delivering safe, reliable power; inspecting vegetation in right-of-ways for compliance and informing construction work plans; identifying tree/brush control and protection zone recommendations; collecting data with hand-held computers and assessing terrain, habitat, and environmental conditions; coordinating with Project Managers, Planners, and Vegetation Crews to develop tailored solutions. Requires enthusiasm for outdoor work, GIS interpretation, travel across the utility service area, and strong communication and problem-solving skills. Travel up to 25% with a full-time, on-site role in Texas; compensation $19-$25 per hour plus benefits, with a company vehicle for commuting and other corporate benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License with clean DMV driving record and ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle
- Ability to read and follow GIS data and maps; ability to work independently
- Availability and desire to travel throughout the utility service area
- Love of the outdoors and the ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather
- Organizational skills; working knowledge of computers and programs, file creation, manipulation, and sharing
