Job Summary
Senior Staff API Engineer (Contract-to-hire) in Nashville, TN, shaping API design, build, test, and deployment on the GCP cloud for enterprise data initiatives. Responsible for collaborating with data architects/scientists, constructing scalable data platforms and pipelines, implementing automated workflows and CI/CD, enabling self-service data architectures, and mentoring other developers. Must drive API engineering best practices, unit/integration testing, performance testing, and data security alignment. Requires hands-on API development experience (Java/Python/Scala) with GCP services (BigQuery, Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud Spanner/SQL/Bigtable),FHIR format, and experience in healthcare and enterprise IT environments. Strong problem-solving, self-direction, and ability to lead in a fast-paced, matrixed team setting; willingness to coach peers and contribute to community-building within the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, related technical field, or equivalent experience
- Master's degree in computer science or related field
- 7+ years of experience in API Engineer
- 3+ years of experience in Healthcare
- 10+ years of experience in Information Technology
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with API Development
- 2+ years hands-on experience with GCP platform and experience with components: Postman, Bruno, Dynatrace
- 3+ years of experience in Healthcare
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with many of the following components: API Development, Apigee, Python FastAPI Framework, Streaming, Kafka, SQL, JSON, Avro, Parquet, Java, Python, or Scala
- Certifications (a plus, but not required): GCP Cloud Professional Data Engineer
