Job Summary
Design, deploy, and manage open-source database architectures (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL); develop and implement migration strategies; optimize performance, scalability, and reliability; collaborate with client teams to translate requirements into effective database designs; provide expert guidance on security, backups, and disaster recovery; stay current with open-source database technologies; troubleshoot complex issues; create comprehensive documentation; mentor junior team members. Remote work arrangement with potential travel; compensation range USD 160k–227k; Bachelor's degree required; 5+ years of experience; cloud exposure and scripting skills (Python, Bash, Perl).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 5+ years designing and implementing open-source database solutions
- Deep expertise in PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL (administration, performance tuning, security)
- Strong understanding of database design principles, data modeling, and query optimization
- Experience with database migration projects (proprietary to open-source)
- Familiarity with cloud-based database services (e.g., Amazon RDS, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus
- Knowledge of data replication, sharding, and high availability configurations
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash, or Perl) for automation
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities with client-facing experience
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment
