Job Summary

Consultant Town Planner to support planning and stakeholder engagement for major infrastructure projects across energy transition, transport, water, and regional developments. Responsibilities include managing and delivering major development applications, providing planning advice, conducting research, preparing Planning Statements and Design and Access Statements, liaising with EIA teams, coordinating multi-disciplinary project delivery, assisting with project management and quality/safety practices, contributing to successful commercial tenders, and engaging with internal and external stakeholders. The role involves working within a national Planning and Stakeholder Engagement team, with hybrid working options from offices in Leeds (and other UK locations). RTPI licensure or equivalent progression toward full accreditation is required or desired, along with demonstrable experience on DCO/TWAO and strong policy knowledge. Required Qualifications

  • Licentiate Member of the RTPI or equivalent

Desired Qualifications

  • Licentiate Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or equivalent
  • experience of working on major planning applications
  • knowledge of UK planning policy and legislation
  • experience with Development Consent Order (DCO) and/or Transport and Works Act Order (TWAO) applications
  • understanding of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) legislation
  • experience identifying, evaluating, and managing planning risk
  • commercial awareness and ability to write clearly and concisely
  • consultancy experience including monitoring and managing project budgets and programmes
  • client-facing and collaborative working approach
  • ability to work under tight deadlines
  • competence in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project)
