Job Summary
Consultant Town Planner at AECOM to join a national Planning and Stakeholder Engagement team delivering major infrastructure projects across energy, transport, water and beyond. Hybrid working is supported with base locations including London and other UK offices. Responsibilities include managing development applications, providing planning advice, conducting planning research and analysis, preparing Planning Statements and Design and Access Statements, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, assisting with project management, implementing quality assurance and health and safety principles, contributing to successful tenders, and engaging with stakeholders and clients. The role requires Licentiate RTPI or equivalent and ongoing accreditation, plus demonstrable planning experience and strong knowledge of UK planning policy and legislation.
Required Qualifications
- Licentiate Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or an equivalent professional town planning organisation and working towards full accreditation
- Planning & Technical Expertise: Demonstrable experience of working on major planning applications
- Sound knowledge of UK planning policy and legislation
- Experience of working on Development Consent Order (DCO) and/or Transport and Works Act Order (TWAO) applications
- Understanding of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) legislation
- Experience identifying, evaluating, and managing planning risk
- Commercial & Consultancy Skills: Commercial awareness and ability to write clearly and concisely
- Consultancy experience, including monitoring and managing project budgets and programmes
- Stakeholder & Team Collaboration: Client-focused with strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working approach
- Experience working in collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams
- Project Delivery & Technical Competencies: Ability to work effectively to tight deadlines
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Project
