Job Summary
Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon responsible for complex pediatric congenital heart defect repairs across neonatal to adolescent patients, including redo surgeries, with perioperative management in collaboration with cardiology, anesthesia, and ICU teams. Involves surgical planning for high-risk cases, emergent interventions, mentorship of junior surgeons and fellows, adherence to safety and infection-control protocols, participation in multidisciplinary conferences, and contribution to clinical research and publications. Requires DOH-accepted MBBS-equivalent, board-fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery with pediatric subspecialty, valid DOH license/eligibility, 7–10 years post-fellowship experience, and expertise in neonatal and complex congenital heart surgery; preferred ECMO/mechanical circulatory support exposure and a strong research background.
Required Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi
- Board Certification / Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery with subspecialty training in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery
- Valid DOH Consultant License or Eligibility Letter in Cardiac Surgery
- Minimum 7–10 years of post-fellowship experience in pediatric cardiac surgery
- Strong expertise in neonatal and complex congenital heart surgery
- Excellent surgical, leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
- Experience in ECMO and mechanical circulatory support programs
- Exposure to high-volume pediatric cardiac centers
- Academic and research background in pediatric cardiac surgery
- Ability to work in a high-acuity tertiary care environment
