Job Summary
Diagnose, treat, and manage patients requiring elective and emergency surgical interventions across gastrointestinal, abdominal, soft tissue, breast, endocrine, and skin disorders. Perform advanced laparoscopic and minimally invasive procedures, conduct pre-operative assessments, and formulate individualized treatment plans. Provide post-operative care, monitor recovery, and respond promptly to surgical emergencies and trauma cases. Interpret diagnostic findings, counsel patients on risks and outcomes, and maintain accurate electronic medical records. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, participate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives, and supervise junior staff. Join the departmental on-call roster while pursuing continuous professional development through CME and clinical research.
Required Qualifications
- Consultant General Surgeon (UK/CCT)
- Perform advanced laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgical procedures
- Manage disorders involving the gastrointestinal tract, abdominal wall, soft tissues, breast, endocrine system, and skin
- Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments and formulate individualized treatment plans
- Provide high-quality post-operative care and monitor patient recovery
- Respond promptly to surgical emergencies and trauma cases
- Interpret laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic findings
- Collaborate closely with physicians, anesthetists, radiologists, intensivists, and allied healthcare professionals
- Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical risks, and expected outcomes
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical governance, morbidity and mortality reviews, and quality improvement initiatives
- Supervise and mentor junior doctors and other clinical staff
- Participate in the departmental on-call roster
- Maintain continuous professional development through CME activities and clinical research
