Job Summary
Independently evaluate and underwrite complex, high-value commercial risks across Nebraska and Colorado while managing new business production and profitability goals. Conduct in-depth risk analysis using financials and loss control reports to provide consultative guidance to agents and field underwriters. Build strong relationships with agency partners through regular in-person meetings, complex negotiations, and strategic planning to drive mutual success. Monitor market developments and emerging risks to influence underwriting guidelines and contribute to portfolio management initiatives. Serve as a technical resource and mentor to support skill development across the team.
Required Qualifications
- At least 6 years of multi-line commercial insurance underwriting experience (with authority)
- Production & Agency Management orientation
- Bachelor's degree
- Must have and maintain a safe driving record
- Must live within the assigned territory
- Preferably based in Nebraska
- Minimum 6–8 years of commercial underwriting experience
- Expert-level understanding of commercial underwriting principles, risk management, and industry-specific exposures
- Strong knowledge of agency operations and market dynamics
- Exceptional analytical, consultative, and communication skills
- Ability to influence underwriting outcomes and support strategic initiatives
- High proficiency in risk evaluation tools and techniques
- Leadership skills, competencies and experiences
Desired Qualifications
- At least 10 years of commercial insurance underwriting experience (with authority)
- Prior field underwriting or territory management experience
- Agency/brokerage experience
- Relevant insurance designations (CPCU, CIC, AU, etc.), or coursework towards them
- Advanced insurance designations (e.g., CPCU, ARM)
