Job Summary
Consultant Aquatic Ecologist responsible for conducting freshwater aquatic surveys (fish, macroinvertebrates, macrophytes, etc.), data entry and analysis, producing ecological appraisals and data-driven reports, and contributing to Environmental Impact Assessments. Works with multidisciplinary teams across the UK, including offices in Nottingham, Leeds, and Basingstoke, delivering high-quality consultancy services to Water Companies, regulators, and private clients. Role involves fieldwork, potential longer hours, and some periods away from home; requires degree-level qualification (MSc preferred), membership eligibility for CIEEM, and knowledge of current environmental legislation. Hybrid work options available; collaboration with environmental specialists to support projects and client needs.
Required Qualifications
- degree level or MSc in a relevant subject
- Qualified to degree level or MSc, or higher, in a relevant subject
- Member of CIEEM or eligible to qualify for this status
- Relevant training (Water Safety, First Aid, Licence to drive in the UK)
- Good knowledge of current environmental legislation, including the Water Framework Directive
