Job Summary
Conduct all phases of telecommunication construction, including loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of construction materials and equipment. Hand dig using shovels and mechanical tools while installing and maintaining underground telecommunications cabling. Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery in congested or remote areas, maintaining visual and audible contact with crew members and vehicles. Perform general construction work under the direction of a Foreman or Supervisor, including setup, preparation, and cleanup of construction sites. Lift heavy equipment and supplies up to 75 pounds while developing an understanding of buried utilities. Work in extreme weather conditions including extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind. This full-time hourly position requires at least 40 hours per week in an outdoor environment. A valid driver's license is required, with a Class A Commercial Driver's License preferred for higher wage scales.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Possess a valid driver's license or be eligible and willing to obtain the required license for the position
- A good driving record is required
- Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner
- Basic knowledge of and ability to hand tools and equipment in a safe manner
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc
- Willing and able to work in all weather conditions
- Must be able to regularly lift 75 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Must adhere to all OSHA, state, city/municipality safety requirements and training provided by the company as required
Desired Qualifications
- Class A Commercial Driver's License is a plus (Higher wage scales apply to CDL holders)
- Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunication industry
- Able to perform all duties in telecommunication construction
