Job Summary
Install and run new cable lines, microducts, and conduits for underground and cable plants, including digging groundwork and securing fiber/copper lines and hardware. Install handholes and assist in fiber blowing activities while clearing vegetation encroaching on cable lines and equipment. Perform other related duties as assigned, including operating power tools and working in confined spaces. This temporary role supports the NTIA Broadband Infrastructure Grant Program for a minimum of one year. Primarily daytime work schedule with occasional night, weekend, and holiday shifts required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, such as a GED
- Drivers license & ability to obtain and maintain a valid chauffeurs license
- Two (2) years of relevant work experience in construction work
- Must successfully pass background check (pre and post-employment)
- Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening (pre and post-employment)
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance
- Must be able to work in the following conditions: Primarily daytime work schedule but may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays
- Must be able to work in the following conditions: Occasional work in an enclosed area lacking windows
- Must be able to work in the following conditions: Occasional Indoor work exposed to indoor conditions, dust, noise dirt, hat, poor lighting, etc.
- Must be able to work in the following conditions: Occasional Outdoor work exposed to different outdoor weather conditions (heat, rain, wind, etc.)
- Visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arms reach
- Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
