Job Summary
Install and run new cable lines, microducts, and conduits for underground and cable plants, including digging groundwork and installing handholes. Secure fiber and cable lines alongside hardware while assisting in fiber blowing activities. Clear vegetation encroaching on cable lines and equipment across the island. Perform other related duties as assigned under the supervision of the Outside Plant Supervisor. Primarily daytime work schedule with occasional night, weekend, and holiday shifts. Requires a high school diploma, valid driver's license, and two years of construction experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, such as a GED
- Drivers license & ability to obtain and maintain a valid chauffeurs license
- Two (2) years of relevant work experience in construction work
- Must successfully pass background check (pre and post-employment)
- Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening (pre and post-employment)
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance
- Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arms reach; performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as ones by carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.
