Job Summary
Inputs data into pre-written computer programs, operates systems to run reports or calculations, and interprets construction plans to assess site conformance. Performs construction materials testing and communicates with staff, contractors, and client representatives. Participates in technical training sessions to achieve and renew certifications related to construction inspection. Organizes client emails and communications for project backup. Requires a high school diploma, reliable vehicle for daily site travel, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Flexible hours including evenings and weekends are required.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Must be able to set up, track, file and organize client emails and communications for project backup
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Well-organized and demonstrated interpersonal relations skills
- Has a reliable personal vehicle that is available for daily use to travel to job sites
- Ability to do occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs
- Able to walk up/down stairs
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
- Subject to outside environmental conditions
- 0+ years' experience
- Interested in learning about federal, state, and local codes and ordinances, building codes, construction materials (such as); soil, concrete, rebar layout, masonry, steel, etc. relevant to projects involving roadway/paving, pipelines, renovations, bridge, tunnels, drainage, and materials verification/design
Desired Qualifications
- KDOT Inspection certification
- Additional experience in engineering, drafting, survey, and/or construction management
