Construction Site Safety Manager/Trainer (SSHO)

Job Summary

Oversee all aspects of jobsite safety and ensure compliance with contract requirements, EM-385 standards, OSHA regulations, and site-specific Accident Prevention Plans. Work closely with project leadership to maintain a safe environment while supervising direct reports as needed. Conduct daily safety training averaging at least 24 hours annually and maintain current CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30 certifications. This field-based role requires on-site presence and potential travel to active military installations across San Diego County. Candidates must possess at least five years of commercial construction experience and five years of project-site safety management. RQ, LLC supports Department of Defense construction programs nationwide with a focus on Design-Build delivery for public and private clients.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of applied commercial construction work experience
  • At least 5 years of construction safety management experience at the project-site level
  • Competent Person training
  • Experience in Fall Protection
  • Experience in Confined Space
  • Experience in Electrical Safety
  • Experience in Excavation/Trenching
  • Experience in Scaffolding
  • Experience in PPE
  • Minimum of 5 consecutive years of documented safety training averaging at least 24 hours annually
  • Previous experience with NAVFAC, USACE, and EM385-1-1 clients
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and internet applications
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current First Aid certification
  • Current OSHA 30 certification (completed within the past 5 years)
  • Must provide evidence of identity and U.S. work authorization at the time of hire
  • Must successfully pass a drug screening
  • Must successfully pass a commercial criminal background check
  • Must successfully pass a stricter Department of Defense background check

Desired Qualifications

  • Occupational Safety and Health certifications from OSHA Training Institutes or other recognized safety organizations
  • Professional safety credentials such as CHST, OHST, or ASP through BCSP
  • Combination of construction field experience, safety training, and/or Occupational Safety and Health certifications
  • At least 5 years of construction safety management experience at the project-site level
  • Additional related degrees or certifications in place of Competent Person training
  • Previous experience with NAVFAC, USACE, and EM385-1-1 clients
  • Familiarity with RMS/QCS and Viewpoint software
